Parker House Rolls
“One day in Home Ec class when I was younger, we learned to make Parker House rolls. As they came out of the oven, we grabbed the hot rolls off the baking sheets even though the teacher protested that we’d burn ourselves.
Of course they were too hot to eat, but that didn’t stop us. Tender, buttery rolls with a hint of sweetness shaped like puffy half-moons – who can wait? They looked like Pac-Man, and they were delicious!?”
Legend has it that Parker House Rolls were invented at the Boston Parker House Hotel when an angry baker threw a pan of rolls in the oven. After they were finished baking, they came out in their distinctive folded shape. However they were invented, I think we can all agree these rolls are amazing. A rich, buttery, slightly-crispy exterior houses a tender and soft interior that is a perfect accompaniment to any meal. (Or if you’re me, you just make a meal out of them.) Enjoy!
