The Best Crème Brûlée
There is nothing like a perfectly-made crème brûlée when you’re in the mood for a special dessert. But don’t be intimidated by its fancy French name, it really is an easy dessert to make. Especially when you have this recipe from Chelsea’s Messy Apron.
This crème brûlée has just five simple ingredients: cream, eggs, a vanilla bean, sea salt, and superfine sugar. They’re baked in a bain marie (water bath) to help them gently come to temperature, then refrigerated until set. Once you’re ready to serve them, you’ll add a thin layer of the sugar on top and either torch or broil it until it gets hardened and browned. And if you don’t already have a kitchen torch then let me let you in on a money-saving secret: a small handheld torch from your local hardware store works perfectly too!
