“Back to School season means there is usually a lot of organizing and stocking up on necessities. Inside of this little cabinet, I’m able to keep snacks, juice boxes or pouches, and their dishes! They have access to what they need and want throughout the day without mom having to jump up at every demand. As parents, I think one of our goals is to make things easier. And I don’t just mean on the kids. Having a Kid Pantry set-up that contains snacks, drinks and their dishes definitely makes my life easier.”

I love this idea for any home with kids. One of our jobs as parents is to teach our kids to be more independent and self-sufficient, and this Kid Pantry is a great step toward those goals. You can even take this idea a step further by designating a small area of your fridge for the kids too.

I try to keep my kids on a relatively balanced diet, so I try to keep my Kid Pantry stocked with squeezable fruit pouches, shelf-stable fruits like apples and mandarin oranges, Fiber One bars for those days when my kids need help to get things moving, pre-portioned servings of nuts, and shelf-stable milk. In the fridge I have pre-portioned veggies and fruits, string cheese, and yogurt.
