It’s easy to save yourself some money by regrowing your own food from your kitchen scraps. Whether you want strawberries, raspberries, avocados, citrus, tomatoes, or whatever else you want.

I’ve done this myself with some alpine strawberries I’ve grown in the past with great luck. I initially bought each little alpine strawberry plant for six dollars apiece, and man, that bill racked up quickly! That summer I was rewarded with plenty of tiny gourmet strawberries, so I saved the seeds from a couple of them and grew new alpine strawberry plants.

If you plan on regrowing your own food from kitchen scraps, I recommend using the seeds from organic fruits. That way you know that their seeds are more likely to grow like the food you harvested them from.
