How To Build A Hexagon Cedar Bench
“Don’t sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me.” That old Andrews sister ditty keeps running through my head as I look at this picture of this lovely bench. Isn’t it so inviting with it’s dappled shade?
This is a project for a moderately-skilled or more advanced woodworker because it has some very precise mitered cuts, so if you’re new to woodworking, try completing a few other projects before taking on this one. This hexagonal bench is constructed of a redwood base and a cedar seat and back. Cedar is naturally rot-resistant, but the author of this tutorial suggests using Thompson’s WaterSeal Timber Oil for extra protection. Now please excuse me while I go build one of these for my backyard which will, somewhat ironically, go under my apple tree.
