“Homemade Eggnog is EASY to make! and without the fillers of the store-bought stuff. Enjoy it spiked or without alcohol for a kid-friendly version.”
Eggnog is believed to have originated in England based of a traditional drink called “posset”, but when it came to the United States in the 1700s it really jumped in popularity. There’s even a recipe out there handwritten by George Washington for his preferred eggnog. But even though the drink’s origins are debated, there’s no argument that this rich, creamy, sweet, and spiced drink is a holiday favorite.
If you’re a fellow eggnog lover, skip buying the second-rate crap in a carton from the grocery store and make your own. It really is very simple and tastes SO MUCH better! And when (or if) you mix in the alcohol, you can go traditional with rum or bourbon or change things up a bit and add Irish cream (my latest favorite), Frangelico for a nutty twist, or even butterscotch schnapps. Cheers!
