DIY Wood Lanterns
I have been wanting outdoor lanterns for years but cannot justify spending the money commanded by their high price tags. I’ve seen easy DIYs with Dollar Store picture frames, but the style just doesn’t replicate a real lantern enough for my tastes. Enter this easy DIY lantern tutorial. Now I, and you, can make outdoor lanterns for much cheaper than you’d buy at the store!
The supply list only includes 2 2x2s at 6 feet long, 1 1×4 at 6 feet long (this will give you extra wood to make a second lantern), 2 1/4″ screws (pocket hole ones if you have a Kreg Jig), wood glue, and the stain or paint of your choice. Once the lanterns are built you can fill them with seasonal decorations such as seashells, pinecones, leaves, or acorns, or you can just replicate the picture above and place a flameless LED candle in there.
